Whole PDO Prosciutto di San Daniele on the bone, can be easily recognised by its external "guitar shape" and by the presence of the typical pig's trotter. In addition to representing a tribute to Prosciutto di San Daniele and its processing, this has also technical reasons. In fact, the joint maintains the integrity of the thigh and makes it easier to drain moisture during the maturation phase.

Whole PDO Prosciutto San Daniele on the bone can be eaten after having removed the rind and the lard and then sliced. It is ideal for hand cutting with a knife.

For this product we have extended the maturation process to at least 16-18 months, to give it an extra touch that only time and good ageing can give.
